RG Hackathon
Innovation precedes everything else at RG whether it plans to develop a custom solution or recruits new talents. For the first time, RG took the route of Hackathon, a new genre programming contest for freshers from reputed engineering institutes like IITs. This time RG restricted itself to IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur. The objective behind this initiative was to attract best brains to the board. Before releasing the Hackathon problem portal to interested candidates, a registration process was scheduled on October 12. Eventually 140 candidates got registered with 100 from IIT Kanpur and 40 from IIT Delhi. Subsequently the problem portal was launched on October 30 at 1600 hours. After a 30 minutes warmup time, the solution upload portal was launched the same day at 1630 hours. Initially, it was decided that the solution time frame for the candidates should be 24 hours; however, given the enthusiasm shown by the candidates, the time frame raised to 35 hours to include more participation. Finally we received 47 submissions from various teams comprising single or two-member ones. Post evaluation, the clear mandate for the 1st prize went to a team from IIT Delhi with a score of 78.6 and the 2nd prize went to a team from IIT Kanpur with a score of 59.6. For the 3rd prize, there were four teams scoring 37.6, so it was rational to award the prize to those teams. The cash award for the 1st prize carries Rs. 30,000, the 2nd prize carries Rs. 20,000, and the 3rd prize Rs. 10,000 (which will be equally distributed among four teams i.e. each getting Rs. 2,500). |
